
Trade and Technology Center
The ARDA Trade and Technology Center is an occupational training and job placement center for young Armenian men and women. Our objective is to increase the number of skilled workers in the work force, improve the quality of construction projects, help working families to make a decent living, and open up opportunities for entrepreneurial enterprises. The Center is an 8,600 square foot, three story facility that will be completed in 2009. It is located on a 75,000 square foot site located at 9 Barouyr Sevak Street, Yerevan. Classroom and practical training will be focused on Construction Management including estimating, accounting, code compliance, blueprint reading, safety and quality control. This training will initially be carried out by teams of trade professionals who will travel to Armenia from the USA.
> The center will contain offices, lecture halls, conference area, training rooms, dining facility, warehouse and accommodation for students.
> It is anticipated that at least 25 students will complete training during the first year and increase each year.
> Initial training modules will focus on construction management and construction trade skills.
> Classroom curriculum will be offered in the following fields:
- Construction management
- Workplace safety
- Building codes
- Field inspection
- Maintenance
- Blueprint reading
- Estimating
> Students will be given practical experience in some of the following construction trades
- Concrete forming and flat work
- Structural steel and rebar placement
- Wall structures
- Carpentry
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical wiring
- Underground and overhead power
- Plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems
- Security and fire safety systems
- Structural welding
- Quality control
